According to a survey done in 2025 by Caring.com, only 24% of American adults have a will. Even more concerning? The “sandwich generation” – those middle-aged adults who are caring for both their growing children and their aging parents – are the largest cohort without an estate plan.
There are many reasons why people procrastinate about creating a will. Some might feel it’s too complex a topic, or don’t think they’ve accumulated enough assets to justify having a will. Perhaps they’re concerned about it being expensive or taking a lot of time.
