Meet Carol
“I wouldn’t be able to eat if I didn’t have them bringing me food.”

At 85, Carol, a former teacher and long-time Flagstaff resident, looked forward to her monthly food box deliveries complete with produce, dairy, frozen meat, and bread. When the pandemic hit, her food box deliveries and visits with Sierra, a driver for Flagstaff Family Food Center, became more important than ever. Carol, unable to leave her house for over a year, had her “food box day” circled on her calendar; it was one of the only opportunities to talk to someone in person, however brief and socially distanced. With the help of Flagstaff Family Food Center, Carol has persevered through the pandemic.
Meet Albert and Keri
"This is going to be a new start."

Working to pay off significant medical bills, Albert, Keri, and their two young sons, ages 6 and 9, were evicted from their home and found themselves living in their car in the dead of winter – experiencing temperatures as low as 0 degrees. Within 24 hours of learning their story, Flagstaff Shelter Services provided this family of four with a safe, warm place to sleep. Two days later, equipped with financial assistance to cover rental payments and utilities for five months, this young family moved into permanent housing: their own 3-bedroom apartment. In addition, they were connected to a local food bank and to St. Vincent de Paul for furniture vouchers. Five months later, Albert and Keri are economically self-sufficient and have not required any further assistance.
